The Strategic Dementia Advisory Group for the East of England (SDAG) provides a fully integrated and expert body for advice, transformation and dialogue between partners in dementia care across the region; to enable and support service and quality improvements, and better patient outcomes.

We are drawn from representative stakeholders including services users, commissioners, providers, voluntary sector, care home sector, research and academia.
Our priorities are dementia diagnosis rates and post-diagnostic support.
We work alongside, influence and support the programmes of work of the NHS England Area Teams and Strategic Clinical Networks (SCN), Public Health England, Academic Health Science Networks, Health Education England, Local Authorities, Clinical Commissioning Groups, 3rd sector organisations such as the Alzheimers Society, Dementia Alliances, and Healthwatch.
Our work for 2014-2016 includes:
- Supporting commissioners to use the GP Coding Tool to clean up read codes, provide accurate dementia registers and thus support increases in dementia diagnosis rates
- Supporting commissioners and providers to understand and make optimal use of the new Dementia Prevalence Calculator as a planning and resource tool, and NHS England CQUIN acute care data.
- Risk management and prevention approaches to dementia.
- Use of technology such as the patient held Health Fabric App.
- Supporting medicines management to identify use of ACI and antipsychotics and link this to dementia registers.
- Sharing good practice via the monthly dementia bulletin of news, resources, research and events.
- Provision of website space, hosted by the SCN, for dementia work in the East of England, and for quick and easy signposting to resources needed for commissioners and providers.
- Supporting post-diagnostic work through patient and carer needs projects, and facilitation and awareness of resources such as dementia information prescriptions, and the Dementia Roadmap
